Invisible damage

Is it necessary to always replace sensitive carbon parts after a fall?

DIRK ZEDLER - EXPERT

“Handlebars, seatposts, forks etc. should be replaced as a preventive measure, serious testing is too expensive. For frames it is different, in this case either the manufacturer or a specialized laboratory can perform tests. Defects on current frames of serious manufacturers are anyway either visible or there are actually no defects. The second good news is that the feared sudden and complete failure, also referred to as “sudden death”, is no longer an issue on good frames today. A regular visual control of the entire frame for cracks, chipped-off paint or discolourations is a very good, preventive measure.”
