Work group parts replacement e-bikes updates the guidelines

After two explanatory documents on pedelec tuning and retrofitting bicycles with electric drive have been published only recently (...), the work group parts replacement on e-bikes and pedelecs also presents the update of both guidelines on the parts replacement on electric bicycles (25 kmh/15.5 mph and 45 kmh/28 mph).

After two new explanatory documents the guidelines have been updated now as well

The “Guidelines for the parts replacement of CE marked e-bikes / pedelecs up to a pedal assist of 25 km/h (15.5 mph)” was extended by another category. The new “category 5” includes in particular indications with regard to the fitting of accessories. According to a statement of the work group, this had become necessary due to the frequent inquiries of specialist dealers that were unsure about retrofitting accessories. It was now more clear how to handle the retrofitting of various accessories, such as bar ends, front baskets or child seats.

In the “Guidelines for the parts replacement of speed e-bikes / pedelecs up to a pedal assist of 45 km/h (28 mph)” the brake system was added in category 2 (components which may only be replaced upon presentation of a valid test report) and notes on front baskets, pannier bags and bar ends in category 4 (special notes for mounting accessories).
