Innovative, precise testing systems for tailor-made solutions

Overloads, shocks, riding mistakes – that’s what bicycle frames and components must endure. We test on test stands simulating in fast motion the fatigue strength and the foreseeable misuse of bicycle components, to identify and exclude such scenarios and their possible consequences prior to real riding.

Thanks to precise, innovative and reliable testing systems we offer tailor-made solutions for (nearly) all challenges of modern, dynamic test requirements, i.e. for bicycles and pedelecs as well as for their components. Depending on the successfully passed tests, your products will obtain test seals upon request documenting the safety level achieved.

Our testing services in the accredited test laboratory ensure reliable tests in accordance with important standards for electric bicycles/e-bikes, bicycles and transportation/cargo bikes, such as the DIN EN ISO 4210, the DIN EN ISO 8098, the DIN EN ISO 11243, the DIN EN 15194 and the DIN 79010 standards. Where necessary and reasonable, the standards are supplemented by company-own test criteria.

These are based on our longstanding accident analyses and were verified and validated with scientific support by universities and colleges. You find a detailed list comprising the current scope of accreditation in the (German) annex to the certificate and in the (German) internal annex to the flexible scope of application.

SAFETY put to the test

With our SAFETY testing systems we simulate in fast motion the loads acting on bicycles and e-bikes during the ride; that’s how we test fatigue, impact as well as overload resistance of bicycle components. These tests often erroneously referred to as breaking tests allow an objective determination of the service life without extensive assembly or thousands of miles of test rides on different terrains which are very time-consuming.

We perform the tests in accordance with the latest standards and ISO standards in force, with the Zedler-Institut criteria of the Advanced or Advanced Plus standards as well as with your individual specifications. For bicycles, no matter whether road, trekking, city bike or pedelec, you can choose between single-step and multi-step tests as well as test blocks.

Comparable to the crash tests of the automotive industry we simulate with these tests overloads and shocks, as they arise as a result of foreseeable misuse or riding mistakes.

The same applies to framesets, bicycle group sets and individual components which are tested by us for overload and shock resistance as well as for fatigue behaviour.

Take advantage of our experience: Every team member of Zedler-Group is an active bicycle tester in his/her leisure time and sometimes even beyond normal use. That’s why we know from our own experience that the standards currently in force do not cover all fields of use of many bicycles and pedelecs. The wealth of experience from thousands of expert reports and the analyses of bicycle damage is reflected in our realistic testing systems and test methods.

Possible defect scenarios which would remain undetected with tests in accordance with the standard are included in our complementary tests.

Why are these tests so important?

EN and ISO-compliant

We test in accordance with EN/ISO standards. And that’s not all: We adapt the standard tests to the latest requirements of bicycle practise, supplement and combine them for realistic measurements results.

Individual

On request we perform the tests according to the individual requirements of our principals. You can choose between single-step and multi-step tests as well as test blocks.

More safety

Take advantage of our experience from thousands of expert reports and our daily routine as active bicycle testers which are incorporated in our test procedures.
